The name derives from “microbiota,” which refers to the microorganisms living in the microbiome of our skin. Their philosophy is that the microbiome health of our skin is just as important as our gut health, nutrition, sleep, and exercise. Their formulas are dermatologist tested, clinically tested, allergy tested, non-irritating, and free from sulfates, parabens, and phthalates. Both their formulas and fragrances are EU-compliant. Iota is a vegan and Leaping Bunny certified product. Iota commits to using only the strictest manufacturing processes to ensure the highest quality and reduce our carbon footprint. Their formulations are made in the USA under Certified B Corp and Green-e Climate Certified standards. The bottles are designed with a mix of sustainable bio-resin made from plants like sugarcane and corn, and recyclable plastic. To offset their plastic footprint, they are Plastic Negative Certified via rePurpose Global. For every amount of plastic they produce, a measured 2x equivalent of plastic waste is recovered and removed from the environment. They’re also Climate Neutral Certified, meaning they offset their carbon emissions through carbon and clean energy credits that fund global carbon emission reduction programs. 100% of the retail cartons are FSC Mix, meaning the paper is sourced from a combination of FSC-certified forests, recycled material, and FSC-controlled wood. They also pledge 1% of every sale to environmental nonprofits dedicated to protecting our planet's future.
